Beach House Platform Pop-up Card

Hello! Can you believe June is here? And you know what that means... Yes! Summer once again!

My card is an 'ode' to the return of summertime and to best showcase that I'm using a Platform pop-up card that I've not made in some time. I learned how to make this at a Stampin'UP event, but also found instructions for this on Splitcoast, here if you want to give this a try yourselves.

I'm using The Rubber Cafe' - Window Garden stamp set and coordinating On the Fence Spellbinder's Die made especially for us.

Before I cut out my fence, I stamped my paper with the Wood Grain background stamp, also made to coordinate with the On the Fence die. Along with that I created and hung the planters and filled it with seagrass, also part of the Window Garden set. I've decorated the planter, with seashells to coordinate with my 'beach house' look. The fence may look crooked but that was 'By design' :) I wanted it to look like it was going down hill and just give it some added depth and interest.

To keep these cards easy to open and close, you have to keep the 'tag' portion fairly flat so I colored and used Distress ink to add more depth and for the message I masked a circle in the center of my window pane so I could stamp 'Miss You' from the Fabulous Phrases set. The 'decorative' edge over my phrase, is from the Fashionable Frames set, I just inked one side, to create the arch.

I decided my window had to have shutters - so I engineered it so that they will close when the card is flat and open wide when the card is standing up. This card could also be a great way to send a Gift card, just make sure your slit is wide enough to accommodate it when the recipient opens the card. Like the easel card, this stands up and can be displayed for all to see!

Here are some shots of the card as it's closed and is being opened.

The base platform is thin cork paper, to give it a 'sandy' look some seashells and a small gull on the roof finish my card.

Thanks for looking- and enjoy your weekend!
