Tim Holtz - 12 Tags of 2013 ~ January

Hi Everyone!
So here I am by the skin of my teeth -getting in my January tag for the Tim's 12 tags of 2013!!  I had fun doing this last year, so wanted to participate again.  It definitely gets me to try to some new techniques as his tags always inspire something new!

My tag itself is packaging from G45 hinges!  - It was a bit distressed but I embossed and inked it some more and where there was 'stuff' I didn't want to show I covered with my Tim Holtz tissue tape!
I love the stability this gave my tag as I knew I was going to be hanging a lot of trinkets and embellishments off of it!

I've used Tim's ticket stamp and Moment token embellishment - I couldn't find my jump rings so use his small paper clips instead!!  I actually love how those worked!!  - I did a rub-on to his clear tags for 'Remember Moments' and a watch piece that I  had and could be Tim's or not.  I don't have the packaging it was just in my metal embellishments.
I stamped my vintage camera using The Rubber Cafe' - Vintage Tresures set- and found a 'Smile' rub-on and a 'Small Smile metal tag.

Tim's Film strip trim finishes it off - and some burlap natural ribbon.

hope you enjoyed!!  -
Now I'm off to get this over to Ever After a store in Carlsbad where they are gathering Tim's tags.
I'll take a pick and share what everyone else has done!!

12 Tags of 2013 Update!**********
Hi - got to the store and I'm 'lucky' #7!  There's still plenty of time as you have until 2/13/2013 to get in on the Store promotion.  To upload to Tim Holtz' blog post you have to have it in before the end of the month.
My good friend Lori McCoughlin is coordinating this effort over in Vista, CA at Ever After! You can see her blog post here - since I usually participate in Tim's - decided it would be fun to do locally as well!  So if you live in the area, get in on the fun!!

I took some pics of the tags turned in so far.  Too much fun!! :

Here they all are together... neat display huh?

Here's Tags 1 -4

I'm in this group - lucky # 7!  Whoo hoo!!

Paper Doll Tags- Julie Nutting style!

Hi - I hope you all had a great weekend!  The best part of my weekend, was I finally was able to take part in a class at Gee Gee's in Carlsbad, taught by Julie Nutting!   She had published a book that I purchased while traveling over the holidays, and is in the process of writing a new one!  I was able to get this one signed in class which was very special.

Although she has tought these tag classes in the past this one was different as she was able to focus her doll images with her recently released stamps (revealed through Prima Marketing at CHA). I felt like I was playing with paper dolls again, and we all had a blast!

Last year at this time I used my Silhouette, and cut some paper dolls and made this Heartfelt project for me Sister.  This was totally inspired by Julie's techniques, so what a joy it was to meet her, and finally take her class!

For this class we made 2 tags, and used her new stamps to create the outline.  Paper piecing created the clothes, and we inked and created little collages for each tag.

These were completed with the minimal supplies provided, I think I have a few ideas to embellish these a bit more.

But in the meantime, I think they're adorable!  And I have 2 of her stamps to do more!!  -

Thanks for stopping by-

The Rubber Cafe'- January Guest Designer Gloria Stengel

This month we have Gloria Stengel joining us at The Rubber Cafe' - as our Guest Designer for the month of January. I'm especially excited about this because not only is Gloria super talented but she is also a close special friend of mine!
Gloria has been on a number of design teams over the past few years, including Graphic 45 (2010, 2011, and 2012), Hampton Art Stamps (2012), and Spellbinders (2011). In addition to those commitments, she graciously has accepted various guest design spots and work with online stores, including Really Reasonable Ribbon and CropStop. Most recently in addition to being published in several magazines, Gloria has been writing blog articles for Crafts 'n things Magazine, where she shares tutorials, and advice on her favorite products, and paper crafting.
*******************************
My name is Gloria Stengel and I live in Oceanside, CA. I’ve been a CA resident since March 2005, after living in five other states. I live with my husband Matt and our three children, Nathan (21), Laura (17), and Jonah (12). I homeschool my two youngest children, but my oldest son has graduated and now attends college full-time. We also have a brand new kitten named Milo. He was born August 2012, and he is making my life crazy, but he's so cute that I am willing to sacrifice the occasional ribbon or button!

I have been hooked on paper crafts all of my life. In 1990, I discovered rubber stamping and in 1996, I stumbled across "modern" scrapbooking. I love all aspects of paper crafting: card making, scrapbooking, mini albums, altered art, up-cycling, you name it! I am happiest when I am making a mess! It's the cleaning up part that I don't care for!

Welcome Gloria! All of us here at The Rubber Cafe', are looking forward to having you with us this month and look forward to seeing what you have to share using products from The Rubber Cafe'!
