Wow! I can't believe where the time has gone since I've last posted... all I can say is it's been a tremendously busy time at work, and creative time and energy has not been there for me lately.
Today I want to share one of the fun Diaper cakes I made recently for some sweet new babies. That's right babies!! In my office within a week of each other two guys had new babies! The first one was a set of twins! And the second one the stork delivered a sweet new baby girl.
Here's a view of the Baby Girl cake I made for sweet little Kari Lynn!
I saw the instructions for a diaper cake from a free download with Echo Park. I've never made these before so it was helpful to see how to get started!
They used a core of foam in the center of the bottome layer, but I chose to make the entire bottom and middle tier all with diapers, and the top layer was a round container of Q-tips! This uses size 1 - a pack of 50 diapers. These diapers go up to 14 pounds, they recommend you not use too small as babies grow fast. So these should be OK for awhile!
Each diaper was rolled and wrapped with small hair rubber bands, and than I used twine to tie the layers together before wrapping my cardstock bands around each layer.
Here's a closer look...
The decorating was so fun! I got my Cameo Silhouette out and cut everything you see! Flowers flowers and more flowers! A 'K' for the top and a flag claiming "It's a Girl!" finishes the top.
The best part I was able to dig into my stash and use that coveted Basic Grey baby paper line that I've had for so long just waiting for the right project! I also used other solid Stampin'UP! cardstock so all I have was the cost of the diapers, and Q-tips! This is such a fun gift, and even the father's were pleased!
Tomorrow I'll post the sweet pair I made for the twins... don't want to share too much sweetness in one post!
Thanks for stopping by....
